The silvery backdrop is unmistakably the aluminium foil rolls that local town-milk bottling plants used to give away for free after milk bottle caps had been stamped out of them. For several decades just about every school dance / disco in New Zealand was adorned with the stuff; happy days and wonderful memories of a song that manages to be both happy and melancholic at the same time (probably an accurate reflection of a national trait!)
