It is remiss of me not to mention the the "back drop" to this email, which is the terrible scenes of the "Great War" and the suffering of the soldiers who experienced as a result of it. It is hard to imagine what it must have been like for them and also for civilians who got caught up in it!
Yes, you got me there. Show of Hands! There is also some other music in there that brings back memories from a long time ago, like Fairport Convention and Don Mclean!.
An interesting and thoughtful interpretation of Houseman- well done, Show of Hands. That fella right at the end in the centre of the shot is the embodiment of Old Bill!
As a Celt I refuse to believe they died in vain. They died for an ideal. Ideals never really exist but sometimes they are worth standing for!Henry Faulkner knew what he was fighting for at Sambre. Thomas Powell (Anglo Welsh) knew what he was fighting for at Flanders. They were not fools, they were brave men who valued the security of their families above their lives and their safety. I am proud to have have them as my great grandfathers, I am not sure I am as brave as either of them.
