Good to see Southend on Sea again.. my home town. Mixed feelings, on one hand it’s crap. It really is Sunday every day.. but now living in the midlands I’m an occasional visitor, a day tripper in fact! Great for a day out on the sea front but it really is Chav central. Everything you have ever heard about Essex or think you know.. your probably right. Think police interceptors, rouge traders, can’t pay we’ll take it away and your on the right track.. all those Southenders that object, it’s called irony.... you wouldn’t understand.
Beginning to see beyond the veil that Morrissey is alluding to in this song whether consciously or not. Gen X growing up in an England that had forgotten itself.
Reminds me of all the time I spent at train stations on a wet Sunday with my skateboard. 20p vegetable soups and smoking roll-ups in the British rail waiting rooms of time. Those where the days.

Did Morrissey happen to visit Southport perchance?

Legend has it that Drew Barrymore was the young lady in the vid. That turned out to be false!

Upon reflection..... Island seaside towns are a thing to be cherished. Lucky ungrateful us. Miserable now. Wake up.
