WE HAD THE privilege OF meeting BROTHER Leon Thomas and his SON many times in concert & at HIS in Lenox Terrace, HARLEM HOME, a wonderful MAN, great humanitarian.....5***
Jazz yodelling! First song on guitar in year one....chose it.....still love it....I can hear the incredible voice acrobatics hitting pitches....but....until that happened and I became enlightened......I would laugh"The Man............"
I learned about this song from hearing the beautiful jazz singer Yvette Norwood-Tiger sing it. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor and thought her life was over a few years ago but God gave her a second chance so now she sings this song to her man the good Lord above. I know Leon wrote this for his father and as the daughter of a great jazz musician myself, I can relate to this song feeling the same way about my dad and also the man above who has blessed me in abundance!

Cool vocalese version of the Horace Silver classic. I played this one with a singer once, though she did it an octave up from this.

Wtf is that solo and why does he avoid the 16th offbeats everytime the singing line is supposed to end or start on it?! Lol
