O! I can´t leave without comm all the nice things said about the finish language. My father was born on the Swedish side of the border that 1809 divided people with same culture and language. On the Swedish side the children where beaten in school by teachers if they where talking finish language in class or outside class. This abuse let to low self esteem among other things and the finish language was looked upon as a "non important and cultivated language" in Sweden. As for many like me in these nearborder parts of Finland my mother got married in Sweden. Many wifes found new homes in Sweden where women moved to southern cities post war. So many men where left alone with land and security for finish women that often came from big families in a poor state after war. It´s amazing and wonderful that this poetic and very describing language has got new listeners that values it as it should. In my childhood on European song contest Finland never got any higher rates. Now almost everyone is singing in English. Why?
