I got the river album last year from a charity shop which now shut down still not playing it yet this has given me the kick up the arse to do so and Springsteen like a painter he paints the canvas of someone life in a song and Billy Joel as well both songwriters taps in to the blue collar work environment a document of the time they lived in.
Lyrics are amazing. I think it was in the UK charts in 83. I was 17. The lyrics are full of teenage lust and freedom but then the despair of working class life for a lot of people. I listened to this a lot in 83. May have saved me from the same fate.
